MYANMA FOODSTUFF INDUSTRIES
( MFI )

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

            Myanma Foodstuff Industries (MFI) is one of the six state-owned Myanmar Industries under the Ministry of Industry (1), engaged in the production of various food  products and beverages.

It was previously named as Foodstuff Industries Corporation. In 1989, it was changed to Myanma Foodstuff Industries to be in line with the New Market Oriented System adopted in the country in late 1988.

ORGANIZATION

Managing Director is the head of the organization holding all the responsibility. The Board of Management has the supreme authority and executes the policies laid down by the Ministry.

            The following are the main business departments each under its own General Manager.

-            Planning Department
-            Marketing Department
-            Accounts Department
-            Production Department
-            Administrative Department

Each Department is headed by a General Manager. Factories and Mills are put under the direct supervision of respective Departments.

Factories under M.F.I consist of Alcohol factories, Wheat product factories, Sauces & Vinegar factory, Tapioca starch factory, Cigarette factories, Virginia Tobacco factory, Brewery, Soft Drinks, Aerated Water & Ice factories, Candy factory, Instant Noodle factory, Tomato Sauce factory.

Apart from these factories there is a Development Centre for Food Technology in Yangon.

POTENTIALS

-            Establishment of new food-product factories.
-            Renovation and development of the existing factories.
-           Mutual co-operation on consignment or buyback basis for manufacturing of food products and beverages.

RANGE OF PRODUCT

           MFI produces the following range of commodities:-

-          FLOUR PRODUCTS
            Noodles, Instant Noodle, Biscuits, Cookies, Breads, Vermicelli, Cakes and other confectionery products.

-          SOFT DRINKS
            Carbonated Soda, pure drinking water (PH7), Cordial, Various Soft Drinks with a variety of essence and colour.

-            SOYA SAUCE ANDVINEGAR PRODUCTS
              Soya sauce, Soya paste, Vinegar, Margarine and Soya Milk.

-            ALCOHOL PRODUCTS
             Rum, Dry Gin, Rectified spirit, Denatured and Methylated Spirit and Beer.

-            TOBACCO PRODUCTS
              Virginia Tobacco, Cigarette with or without filter

-            STARCH PRODUCTS
             Starch powder, Glucose, Maltose

-            CANDY PRODUCTS
              Variety of Candies
